In the case of double-sided honing, when the honing wheel and the gear to be honed are adjusted to the center distance of the no-side glands, the radial feed is continued, and then the center distance is fixed to form the honing pressure between the tooth surfaces. As the honing process progresses, the tooth surface metal is removed, and the honing pressure drops. This method is called double-sided honing with variable pressure.
